Praslin Praslin is a part of the Inner Islands group of the Seychelles. It is the second-largest island in that area, and it is situated approximately 45 kilometers from Mahe. Praslin is made of granite, and you will definitely notice the ridge of small mountains that run east-west along the centre of the island. When it comes to its size, Praslin is 12 kilometers long and 5 kilometer wide, of course in its widest point. At the moment, the number of permanent inhabitants varies between 6, 500 and 7,000. There are many small settlements around the whole island, but tourists should especially note three of them: Anse Volbert, Grand Anse and Baie Sainte Anne. The last town is where you will find the main port of the Praslin. You can charter a yacht there, moor your own boat or get to the other islands on ferry. If you are a fan of birdwatching, you should visit Valle de Mai, as there is an amazing variety of rare birds you will not see elsewhere. Praslin is also home of the famous coco de mer palm, which produces the biggest nuts. However, if you prefer to spend you holidays in a more active way, you won’t be disappointed as well.
