Basse-Terre region of Guadeloupe is a wonderful place to spend a Caribbean vacation as it offers you many cruising opportunities. Basse-Terre is one of the two (the other is Grande-Terre) largest islands in Guadeloupe. Choosing the rental location in Basse-Terre is extremely convenient as it enables you to explore a significant part of the Lesser Antilles archipelago.
Basse-Terre offers you luxuriant greenery, exotic animals, white-sand beaches and breathtaking landscapes. You can admire all of it in many nature reserves and national parks, such as Guadeloupe National Park and the Zoological and Botanical Park. The first one is an extremely popular hiking place as it offers you an extraordinary natural diversity. Moreover it is an area where the highest peak in Guadeloupe is located. The mountain, called La Soufriere, is an active volcano which last eruption was observed in 1660. Exploring the adjoining ground guarantees you extraordinary sights; for example if you manage to get to Etang As de Pique you will experience a spectacular view of lakes located in the volcano’s craters. For nature and history lovers we highly recommend the Archaeological Gardens.
The spectacular Jacques Cousteau's Underwater Reserve is located within a short distance from Basse-Terre so it is worth to have it in mind when you start your island hopping adventure in this region.
Grande-Terre, Basse-Terre sister island, offers you numerous attractions as well. It is a place where the largest city and a main port, Pointe-a-Pitre is located. In Pointe-a-Pitre you can find many architectural treasures which are located mostly along Rue de Comdt Mortenal. Moreover, we recommend you visit at least a few out of many of its museums, such as the Museum Saint John Perse or the Museum Schoelcher. One of the most famous places in Pointe-a-Pitre is the Place de la Victoire, a scenic park with rich tropical greenery, surrounded by the most exuberant of the city’s streets full of shops and charming cafes. Shopping is another thing you cannot omit when in Pointe-a-Pitre - stalls with local products from tropical fruits to hand-crafted goods can be found at every corner.
Gosier is a charming village located just outside Pointe-a-Pitre where you can admire scenic natural landscapes and tropical fauna. When you are there, you should also visit the spectacular Aquarium de la Guadeloupe.
However, the Basse-Terre region is not limited to these two main islands. This part of Caribbean Sea is full of wonderful places which we highly recommend you visit during your island hopping cruise. These are for example: La Désirade Island, which with its pristine waters is a paradise for water sports’ fans; Terre-de-Haut Island, Terre-de-Bas Island and astonishing Marie-Galante Island.
Yachtoo offers you many catamarans and monohulls available for luxury charter in Basse-Terre region of Guadeloupe. They are all well-maintained and comfortable so there is no better way to explore this spectacular place than by chartered boat. You can choose among many extra facilities, such as a skipper or a cook to make you and your crew even more relaxed during your holiday time.
