Description
Cienfuegos The Caribbean islands are clearly beautiful with their white sandy beaches, crystal clear water and wonderful weather. That region is also perfect for sailors who would like to spend their holidays in the place resembling paradise. The number of islands is very big and sometimes it’s hard to decide which one is worth seeing in a first place. However, if you plan on visiting the Caribbean, first of all you should consider travelling to Cuba. The largest island in the archipelago is a must-see for every sailor, as it’s a mixture of fascinating history, incredible culture and great people. Sailing in Cienfuegos Cienfuegos is one of the most important Cuban ports. It is situated opposite the entrance to the Cienfuegos Bay on the Caribbean Sea and it has all services of a modern marina. Every sailor will definitely find a perfect yacht for rent here and enjoy the time in this area. The southern part of Cuba is an ideal place for sailing as it is sheltered and constant trade winds there are very beneficial. Only if you sail somewhere between coral reefs, you may notice stronger currents. The average temperature in this region ranges between 22°C and 30°C but you must be prepared that in the summer months it may rise. What can you experience while sailing in the south of the Cuba? Well, the area is full of wonderful sandy beaches where you may lie down and sunbathe on the lazy day but you should also explore some of the coral reefs swimming, diving and snorkelling. Those who like fishing will also be very happy as there are plenty of opportunities to give yourself over to such hobby. Cienfuegos City Cienfuegos is a very popular port but the city is also extremely interesting. It is one of the largest and most prosperous cities in Cuba, but at the same time Cienfuegos is a typical vivid Cuban town with very welcoming people and both natural and cultural attractions. In the past Cienfuegos was the French enclave and thanks to that you will definitely feel the cultural uniqueness of that place and also its nobility. The historic centre of the city, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005, will charm you with its exquisite architecture and character. Every visitor should also see a great attraction of that city, which is Castillo de Jagua. In the past this quite impressive fortress was used by Spanish as a fort to keep out smugglers, and later to protect the city from the pirates. It is very important military structure in Cuba, but the castle is also a tourist attraction. And according to the local legend Castillo de Jagua is haunted by a ghost in the blue gown – the Lady in Blue. The Pearl of the South, as Cienfuegos is being called, is a perfect place to charter a yacht and start your journey. Sailors just love the peaceful waters of that area, sunny weather with high temperatures and beautiful views all around. There are also many attractions almost for everyone so you have a great chance that you and your family or friends will spend a great time in Cienfuegos. |
