Balearic Islands – The Sailors’ Heaven Its hard to find a place more wonderful than Balearic Islands. Whether you look towards the North and focus on Gimnesias, which divide into Mallorca, Menorca and Cabrera or towards the South-West and Pitusias (Ibiza and Formentera), you’ll certainly be more than satisfied. What do you need to know before choosing it as your sailing destination? This charming archipelago is located in the western Mediterranean Sea, close to the eastern coast of Spain. It’s a province of Spain and an autonomous community, having Palma de Mallorca as the capital. It’s worth to notice that Islas Baleares have two official languages – Catalan and Spanish. You’ll also notice (and love) many influences in Balearic cuisine. It features much seafood, pork, wine and cheese. Don’t hesitate to try Ensaimada, Coca or sobrassada.
