The Legendary Chesapeake Bay Who hasn’t heard about the Chesapeake Bay? It has been written about and painted, it featured in songs and films. It’s the most impressive coastline in the United States and everyone who’s into sailing should consider checking it out himself. There are over 11 thousand miles of shoreline – more than the entire coastline of the rest of the US – and it comes across six states. And there are countless rivers and streams feeding it. Be careful though. The weather can be pretty unpleasant during the summer. From June to August average temperature reaches or even exceeds 30 degrees. That’s why we recommend to plan your yacht rental trip for spring or autumn. As for the wind, you can expect strong north-west winds or strong north-east ones. The blessing of diversity What’s great about Chesapeake Bay – and it’s best to observe it while on the boat – is how the stunning natural landscape coexists with the civilization. Washington DC is just around the corner but while sailing you can look at what nature has best. Northern and western shores are pretty high populated while eastern reach is way less metropolitan. Don’t you dare forgetting about those places What are the best places to visit while on the yacht rental in Chesapeake Bay? For instance Rock Hall with amazingly fresh food. Or Baltimore where there’s a beautiful harbor and some incredible architecture. Then there’s Oxford on the Tred Avon – a charming town known as the „gate” into colonial states. And if you’re one for linguistic curiosities, go to Tangier Islands where you may here a bit of Elizabethan English. Don’t forget that if you have enough time to spend, you can explore the rivers in the Southern part of the bay. And of course you can’t forget about Annapolis which some call „the sailing capital of the world” and which also happens to be the home to the Naval Academy. The amount of incredible sights will be overwhelming As for the other appeals of the states and cities which you can visit, of course it depends on whether you’re a local or someone who just came to America for holidays. The latter ones will certainly enjoy the different, more relaxed lifestyle and the cuisine (which they probably can already taste in their countries, but in worse edition). If you’re young or you just like your parties, you should certainly check out the nightlife of the bigger cities you’ll pass. And don’t forget that places like Baltimore have an exceptional music scene. An opportunity you shouldn’t miss upon Remember that visiting America is an incredible adventure – you’ll see a country of so many faces it’s hard to believe it’s even possible. There’s no other place like USA and if you rent a boat and go for a cruise down the Chesapeake Bay – you’ll be able to observe it in the best way possible. You’ll see bare nature in it’s beauty and some of the most impressive cities in the world existing right next to each other. Doesn’t that sound like something worth living through? |
