Balearic Islands – The Sailors’ Heaven
Its hard to find a place more wonderful than Balearic Islands. Whether you look towards the North and focus on Gimnesias, which divide into Mallorca, Menorca and Cabrera or towards the South-West and Pitusias (Ibiza and Formentera), you’ll certainly be more than satisfied. After all, who wouldn’t be with breathtaking views, sky-blue waters and incredible beaches? Not to mention over 300 sunny days a year and lovely, hospitable inhabitants. And a loong season for boat charters, running from April to October! All you need to do is taking a flight to Palma. From then just rent a boat, a yacht or a catamaran and enjoy your stay in one of the most beautiful areas of the world.
What Balearic Islands have to offer...
What do you need to know before choosing it as your sailing destination? This charming archipelago is located in the western Mediterranean Sea, close to the eastern coast of Spain. It’s a province of Spain and an autonomous community, having Palma de Mallorca as the capital. It’s worth to notice that Islas Baleares have two official languages – Catalan and Spanish. You’ll also notice (and love) many influences in Balearic cuisine. It features much seafood, pork, wine and cheese. Don’t hesitate to try Ensaimada, Coca or sobrassada.
But Balearic Islands are not only about sun and food, even if there’s more than enough of that. Among other things, you’ll notice lovely little cities that you’ll certainly fall in love with. Just look at the photos of Port de Soller on the northwest coast of Mallorca (and think about reaching it with your yacht charter). There’s also a great culture of sport there, if you’re one for football, tennis or motorsports. Some of the most iconic sportsmen of the last decades – like Rafael Nadal – are from Ballearic Islands. Who knows, maybe the climate will inspire you to find your own routine?
Have fun with the locals and get to know Balearic traditions
Sure enough, if you’re one for fiestas, you also won’t be disappointed. You’ll enjoy rich folklore of Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza, dancing to the melodious music and getting to know ceremonial dances. Try carnival in Palma or Mahon, the Fiesta of San Juan or San Antonio Abad. And if you’re one for more contemporary events, check out Jazz Festival of Palma or, well, the endless party season on Ibiza. You have heard about clubbing on Ibiza, right? But before you live through it, you have no clue about it.
Is there anyone who wouldn’t enjoy their stay on Balearic Islands?
Whether you’re one for social activities or you prefer to just walk around and look at the miracles of both nature and architecture – Balearic Island won’t disappoint you. Just take a peak at Palma’s fantastic Catedral or the view of Cap de Formentor. Are you sure you only want to go there for holiday?
Anyway, you’ll certainly enjoy your stay. Balearic Islands are the heaven of yacht charters. Thanks to the climate, the beautiful diverse coastline and harbors where everyone will find something to enjoy it’s hard to think of a better place to sail. Also, a boat will allow you to visit many incredible nooks like the Dragon Caves or deserted beaches. Where nature meets culture and the old meets the new, you will find an adventure to remember, wonderful people and perhaps a place to come back to...
